The Size:  Miami is ranked as the 4th largest urbanized city in the United States with a current population of 3.5 million people and a growth rate of 22 percent in ten years. (2000 Census)

The Need: 58 percent claim no religious affiliation and only 7.5 percent claim to be evangelical.   

The Nations: Although English, Spanish and Haitian Creole are considered the city's three official languages, over 170 languages are spoken in Miami. 

The Influence: Known as the "Gateway to the Americas", Miami ranks as one of the most influential cities in America.  The city is home to many company headquarters, banks, and television studios. It is an international center for popular entertainment in television, music, fashion, film and the performing arts. Although ranked the richest city in the US and 5th in the world, still 28 percent of the city's population lives below the poverty level.
